TonTired of worrying about leaking roofs, cleaning gutters, shoveling snow, waiting for a plumber or painting your house? do not worry. Help is just around the corner – for peace of mind!

Total Home Manager (THM) can do just that. And you don’t have to move; you can stay in your house, and you’re free from the stress and tension and all the pesky details that come with home ownership.

As the name suggests, Total Home Manager is ready to maintain, repair and manage with full control over any issues and needs that arise.

It was founded in 2009 by Baxter Construction owner Jim Baxter and entrepreneur Ray Disch and is headquartered at 31 West Broad Street in Hopewell.

great idea

“We realized that there weren’t many people doing small projects for homeowners — handyman-type jobs,” Baxter explained the origins of the business. “It seemed like a good idea. We are often asked by clients to do a variety of things, including small jobs like fixing steps, door and window locks, broken screens and other repairs.

“Also, when we started, Ray was in the real estate industry and clients often asked him to refer people for repairs and other work. As a contractor/builder, Baxter Construction has people who work for us and we can ask them. We have carpenters, We know electricians and others we can connect with. We have a network of talented insured and licensed experts in a variety of industries, including roofing, paint, masonry, electrical and plumbing.

“These are people with experience and skills who can be counted on to arrive on time and handle the job well. Of course, they all meet our standards.”

Homeowners appreciate THM service from the start. Taking over the wear and tear of home maintenance and unexpected problems is a great way to de-stress, Baxter points out.

“Our first clients were a couple from New York City who had a weekend home in Princeton. They needed help at home and made an appointment with an electrician who never showed up. Then they called us, We came right over and solved the problem. We found solutions for people.

“Another client had an experience with an electrician who did his job but left a hole in the wall. So, she called us and asked what to do. We went to her house and joined us , all-encompassing. We do everything, and we never leave a hole in the wall. We do it right the first time.”

He noted that THM customers vary in age and lifestyle. This service is a boon for a wide range of people – from busy professionals to single homeowners, seniors to those who have never owned a home before. All welcome prompt and reliable help.

The word of mouth is very good, Baxter reports. “Eighty percent of our business comes from referrals and repeat customers, and we’re growing steadily.”

Specific projects are often seasonal, adds project manager Peter Parker. “In the summer, there can be a lot of exterior paint and other exterior work. Paint and wood restoration are in high demand. We saw how much the area needed us, and our help.”

Baxter points out that each job has its own personal project manager. “There’s always someone to supervise the work. Plus, if people aren’t there, we can look at the house. We have a checklist that we’ll check on a weekly basis for leaks, storm damage, etc.”

basic business

He added that THM is considered an essential business during COVID-19. “As people are staying at home longer, they often want to make their homes and properties more beautiful and attractive, and we’re really, really busy helping to improve,” Baxter said.

One of the advantages THM offers homeowners is a membership program with a variety of options. Research has shown that preventive maintenance is many times more cost-effective than reactive maintenance in the event of a breakdown or failure, he said.

THM offers three membership plans, including Gold, Silver and Handyman Plus, with different fees each year. All of these include Quick Response, Urgent Response, Preferred Pricing and Consolidated Invoicing. Services in other programs range from property inspections and inspections to home maintenance records and home analysis forecast reports.

“Our plans are flexible, and we can customize them according to the needs of our customers,” Baxter noted. “We often find that once customers become aware of the benefits available, they become members.”

relationship based

The company built a strong sense of trust with its clients, as Baxter recalls, “One of our clients went to Maine for three months, another went to Florida for six months, and another went to Hong Kong for a year. They gave The keys to our house, we take care of everything for them. In some cases, they may need a new water heater or sump pump, or they may decide they need landscaping services, and work Can be done in their absence.

“Our business is relationship-based. That’s the point. We build lasting relationships with people. They know they can count on us. Once there was an accident when a lady’s door key broke in the lock. It was raining , she was alone in the car with the baby. We had been working for her and she called us. We had the keys to the back door and it was there in an hour.”

These services are all-encompassing and almost anything a homeowner needs can be obtained from THM. Chimney cabinets, plumbing and driveway repairs, gutters and downspouts, pools and patios, landscaping, lawn cleaning and lighting, home entertainment TVs and internet systems – the list goes on. and all single-source solutions.

Homeowners in Princeton and the region, as well as in Somerset, Hunterdon and Bucks, benefit from THM.

“We’ve really seen time and time again that this area needs and wants our services and how grateful they are for our help,” Peter Parker noted.

Jim Baxter added: “It is very satisfying to meet this need of people. It is really a big help for them: a single source solution for complete indoor and outdoor home repair and management services. Give We’re one call away and you’ll have access to a seamless home repair system – and most importantly, peace of mind.”
